Migraine Headache Relief For When Nothing Else Will Work

The causes of migraine headaches vary as much as the treatments for them do. What works for some may not work for all when it comes to migraine headache relief. If you’ve ever had a migraine headache, and you’ve tried all the typical migraine headache relief options (aspirin, ibuprofen, soaking in the tub, or anything else you can think of that will relieve the pressure in your head), you may find yourself desperate to find any migraine headache relief possible. Here are some migraine headache relief options to try when nothing else will work.

Over The Counter

Besides the usual medicines for migraine headache relief, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, there are now other creams and pills designed strictly for migraines. Some of these are in pill form that you can take every few hours until the migraines subside. These have been shown to have much success on people who suffer from frequent migraines. There are also creams that you rub on the outside of your forehead. These also have been shown to get rid of migraines. So the next time your regular migraine headache relief options don’t work, give one of these other treatments a go that are strictly made for migraine sufferers.

Ice And Heat

Sometimes, no amount of medicine will work. When this happens, a migraine headache relief option is to try an ice pack or a heating pad. You can make an ice pack out of a towel wrapped around a few ice cubes. Put the ice pack on the back of your neck, or on your forehead while laying down and let the sensation soak into your head. If this doesn’t work, you can try a heating pad. Heating pads can be purchased at your local pharmacy or you can make your own. To make your own heating pad, put a sock filled with rice in the microwave for around fifteen seconds. This can also be placed on the back of your neck or on your forehead for a great migraine headache relief choice.

Sauna

A sauna is another way to get migraine headache relief. If you aren’t a member of a gym and you don’t have a sauna in your house (not many people do), you can recreate this sensation by boiling a pot of water on the stove. When the water has come to a boil, take it off and place it on the countertop. You may want to put a cutting board or something similar underneath the pot so that you don’t damage your counters. Put a towel over your head and lean your face over the water. Breathing in that steam will help to relieve the pressure in your head and it will get your mucous flowing again, which could be the cause of your migraines. When all other relief options fail, this one is sure to do the trick.
